Kymia was born in 1969. After the Applied Arts of Lyon and the Fine Arts of Annecy (Les beaux-arts), she worked as a student then assistant in the studio of the sculptor H.Tonglet (Ardennes) for 12 years. Afterwards, Kymia became a jewellery foundryman, trained in boilermaking techniques and learned to weld aluminium. Her various stays in art foundries enriched her knowledge in metal chasing.
Since 1988, Kymia has exhibited in many European galleries but also at the Faure museum in Aix les Bains, the Sacred Art museum of St Nicolas de Véroce, the Aluminium museum of St Michel de Maurienne, and the Gueules Rouges museum in Tourves. His works are present in the permanent collections of the Faure museum of Aix les Bains, the Gueules Rouges museum of Tourves, the museum of Sacred Art of St Nicolas de Véroce and the conservatory of Art and History of Annecy.
Kymia is a baroque artist, fragile and rebellious. She has found in Aluminium the material for her soul. In the beginning nothing is decided and nothing is fixed. Guided by the metal that she literally eviscerates, seeking her own exaltation in fire and forging, she creates works suspended between the real and the unreal, between the signifier and the emotion. She charms and disturbs, obsessively turning her ordinary torments and tirelessly questioning us about our own existence. Her sculptures are heavy with history, hers but also ours, which she holds out to us like a mirror.
